Patterson Project?

What kind of project is taking place adjacent to northbound Highway 101 near Patterson. It quite a project. Is it a flood area buffer?

Feb 23, 2022 01:11 PMUnfortunately they're planning on cramming an extremely dense apartment building for that corner. https://www.pattersonneighborhoods.com/

Feb 23, 2022 05:49 PMWhat is up with all of our new housing being built right next to freeways. No one should be living within that proximity of a highway with the pollution. It's horrible for everyone.

Feb 23, 2022 09:10 PMIf it's zoned residential, it's cheap and high density. This is done on purpose for affordable housing. (So I was told by an engineer who worked for a developer for similar properties many years ago.)

Feb 24, 2022 07:06 PMIt’s not zoned residential. It’s commercially zoned property. They are asking for a rezone with their permit application. This is one ugly development. Three story utilitarian looking building on 1.5 acres. 27 apartments and 60 carport spaces. Along of course with covered bicycle spaces so all the freeway encampment dwellers in that area can steal them.

Feb 23, 2022 05:35 PMI think OP meant on the southbound side of 101, north of Patterson where they've cleared a ton of brush and carved out a big hole.

Feb 23, 2022 08:28 PMNo, they meant what they said. Near Patterson ( or East of there ) at 101 N-bound. I guess you're geographically challenged as north of Patterson which runs due north and south until then would be out by San Jose Creek.

Oct 19, 2022 08:01 PM101 N-bound is on the mountain side of freeway. This project is on ocean side of freeway

Feb 24, 2022 05:51 AMIf the proposed high density housing is built, it will change slow, intersetion-blocking, irritating traffic boggle to gridlock on Patterson. The contractors will be long gone. Another step in community degradation and encouragement of road rage. As to why--because it's cheaper and allowed.

Feb 24, 2022 08:15 AMDriving East on 101 as you approach Patterson the site is on the ocean side between the highway and the railroad.

Feb 24, 2022 01:04 PMIt's a way too small parcel to put a three-story apartment building on. Just the impact of extra traffic at one of the busiest intersections in Goleta makes me say no. I have a personal experience in opposing this development. Watched my life pass before me as a distracted driver barrel-assed through the red light at Calle Real and Patterson where I was turning left with about 10 other cars. Thanks to the person who blew their horn, I saw the SUV coming at me and braked hard. We came to a stop about 18-20" away from our respective bumpers. No apologies from her, just a shrug. I was mouthing WTF, WTF of course. I had to pull over and regain my composure as my heart was beating hard and my hands were shaking. Mamma Mia! Just look at the page - www.PattersonNeighborhoods.com and make your voice heard. Sending out a shout of thanks to Paul Bradford for his dedication.

Jun 05, 2022 08:37 PMWhat a stupid place to put what is basically an apartment. Between the freeway and a railroad by a matter of feet. Who approved this idiocy. Can you imagine trying to raise a child there?
