On 02/14/2026 at 5:52 PM, Officers on routine patrol near Newlove Ave and McClelland St observed a vehicle in violation of 26708 (a) CVC (tinted windows) and 24252 CVC (lighting equipment).
Officers attempted a traffic stop; the driver failed to yield and continued at approximately 5 MPH before proceeding through the city at higher speeds. The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons. Officers were able to identify the male driver as a subject currently on parole.
With the assistance from Parole, Santa Maria PD Patrol officers located the suspect at an apartment complex on Skyway Dr. The suspect vehicle was located unoccupied. A second vehicle parked adjecent was confirmed registered to Suspect.
After Multiple announcements were ignored San Luis Obispo Sheriffs K-9 deployed. Suspect exited the vehicle and was taken into custody.
Suspect was treated for K-9 bite injuries at the scene and at Marian Hospital. Parole placed a 2056-parole hold. Charges include 2800.2 CVC( felony evading) and 148 (a)(1) PC (restist/delay). Suspect was booked at Santa Barbara County Jail
