Overturned Bus Accident Causes 7 Injuries Near Los Alamos

Seven people suffered minor injuries after an Amtrak bus overturned near Los Alamos early Friday morning.

At 5:47 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded with ambulances and California Highway Patrol to a report of a bus collision on Highway 101 southbound, just south of Los Alamos. The bus was traveling with 24 passengers on board.

The bus originated in Davis, California and was picking up passengers to take to the Santa Barbara train station with the end destination of San Diego. The bus lost control and went off the highway, ending up on its side, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

There were seven patients who sustained minor injuries, six of those patients were transported to Marian Medical Hospital and one patient was transported to Santa Ynez Hospital. 

The roads were closed for a period of time but are now open. CHP is investigating the cause of this accident.
