Aug 25, 2021 08:28 AMWhy bother? If someone wants to commit suicide s/he should be allowed, otherwise they may traumatize others (suicide by train) or kill others (hwy 'accident' suicide) or at least cause a world of pain to people they victimize to pay for their habit.

Aug 25, 2021 08:58 AMLUVADUCK - We all know you love to encourage the death of addicts and gangsters (especially young male ones), but this is just disgusting. Not everyone who ODs is trying to kill themselves. A buzzed young woman at a party tries "something new" = OD. An addict trying to wean him/herself off heroin, uses a small amount that happened to have been cut with fentanyl = OD. A young child eats a pill they find on the floor somewhere = OD.
Have a little compassion and humanity. As much as you think you do, you know NOTHING of others' circumstances in life. God forbid someone you love ever makes a mistake.

Aug 25, 2021 11:56 AMWhy bother??? Are you joking? Showing lack of compassion and empathy is a major sign of a sociopath. Fact. So Luvaduck, when it's you, or someone you care about and love, should the first responders not bother showing up to try to save you from an accidental overdose? Watch what you say and posting something like that on a forum for our community really tells us all how you feel about our community. Don't let the door hit you on the way out dude...

Aug 25, 2021 09:59 AMI agree. Let’s also show some compassion and condemn these idiotic calls to deny medical treatment and jail the unvaxxed.
Have a little compassion and humanity. As mush as people think they do, they know NOTHING of others circumstance in life.

Aug 25, 2021 10:01 AMVOICE - way to troll off topic with a cheap re-use of my comment. I've never said deny them treatment or jail them. But go ahead and you do you......

Aug 25, 2021 10:19 AMVOICE - and another thing.... comparing compassion for *accidental* overdoses to compassion for those who *intentionally* refuse to get vaccinated is wildly fallacious on numerous grounds. Again, "Reason" has no place in your moniker.

Aug 25, 2021 12:34 PMI took an overdose once in an alcoholic black out once and did not know I did it..I called one of my girlfriends at the time to say "Later" she and 2 S.B. Cops saved my ass I have not had a drink since. Everyone's life is worth something even if some people don't think so. Our responders get disgusted at all the Drunks and Druggies out there on the streets hurting themselves and others but everyday they go out there and save lives no matter how they feel about someone..Some of these people have ODed numerous times and the responders save their lives Once Again because no matter how bad someone pisses them off they value their life like their own they know anyone has the ability to change even those who hate others can change...

Aug 25, 2021 02:37 PMMy son overdosed last week, it was accidental (but very nearly deadly). If it weren’t for the officers, EMTs and fire team from around the corner (who were there so quickly and used 2x Narcan) , he wouldn’t have made it to the hospital . There are no words to describe the compassion and care that they + the hospital staff have for people in this situation.

Aug 26, 2021 08:23 AMBRIGHTSIDEOFTHEROAD... my story is the same as yours, however, my son was not as lucky. You described the exact same scenario we had here 2 weeks ago on 8/9/21. Too many, too young these days. And yes... LUVADUCK you suck. You are living in a fantasy world.

Aug 26, 2021 10:24 AMBYZ - can you never just say something nice? The OD was *accidental* - what makes you think he needs to "get off drugs?" And even so, why say something like that to a parent. Jeez man.

My heart is with you. I really did think that was the direction this was going for us. There is too much of this stuff in SB, lots of young hurting kids, truly evil/tainted drugs and i think we’re not talking about it enough. These judgmental and unkind comments, make it hard for parents to feel safe sharing or grieving.
@roger
I’m always grateful for the way you compassionately report on these and also for how you share your personal experiences. It helps those of us navigating through this.
@byz @ luvaduck
Not giving your hate any energy.

Aug 26, 2021 10:43 AMI think it was Prince who died because he took some medications at the same time that should never be combined.
Hunter Biden made the mistake of thinking the parmesean cheese on the floor from a pizza was crack, it would have been tragic if he'd mistaken the corrosion around the car battery for an injectable substance.
Sounds like Mr R saw the writing on the wall and changed. We should all be happy for those that made it out, and we should root for those who haven't yet.
Doesn't mean we have to suspend good judgement or have to provide addicts with free drugs and a "safe" place to spike. Its not our job to pay for baby sitters for addicts
