On September 14, 2021, nineteen officers of the Santa Barbara County Probation Department conducted wellness checks of individuals on Probation or Post Release Community Supervision.

The operation focused on clients convicted of domestic or family violence, child or elder abuse, and sex or drug crimes where children, victims, or vulnerable adults reside in the home. The operation included the Santa Maria, Orcutt, Lompoc, Santa Barbara and Goleta areas.

The wellness checks included assessing the client and family’s living environment, documenting any needs of individuals within the home, providing information on probation and community resources, and ensuring client compliance with the terms and conditions of their probation. During the visits, wellness bags containing facemasks, hand sanitizer, sanitizing cloths, snacks as well as items for children were distributed to each family.

In total, forty-seven locations were visited and resulted in thirty-four contacts and sixteen home searches. No arrests were made.
