Open Air Bicycles, a longtime bicycle store and full-service repair service center, is moving out of its current location and is looking for a new home, the business announced in a social media post on February 5, 2026.

The store said the lease at its 135 E. Carrillo Street location has ended and confirmed it is preparing to vacate the space. The post did not include details about a new location.

As part of the store’s closure, the business announced a clearance sale on all in-stock items. Discounts range from 30% to 60% on all bikes and accessories.

The store did not mention the last date of the clearance sale.

Located on the corner of Carrillo and Santa Barbara Street, the store initially operated on State Street before moving to its current location, according to its website

Open Air Bicycles has been serving the community for more than 50 years, making it one of the city’s longstanding bicycle retailers.

The store offers a range of bicycles to meet the needs of riders and evolving trends. Its inventory includes kids’ bikes, commuters, cruisers, BMX bikes, road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes, and a range of electric bikes.

Customers can also find accessories from Giant Bicycles, one of the largest bike manufacturers in the world, the website added.

Offering a complete riding experience, the store sells apparel, such as gloves, jerseys and tops, shorts and bottoms, protective armor, socks, and undergarments. Customers can also find cycling shoes and helmets for kids and adults.

In addition to selling a range of bikes, the store also provides professional repair and fitting services. The store offers free safety checks, bike service and repair, bike demos and rentals, and pickup and delivery services, according to the website.

Open Air Bicycles offers four tune-up packages, as well as a la carte bike repairs for minor fixes or adjustments. The price range of the packages ranges from $75 to $150.

Service and repair are carried out by professionally trained technicians, who provide customers with a free, no-obligation estimate, according to the website.

The business stocks basic service tools, lubricants, and cleaning products that allow customers to maintain their bikes and keep them in good working condition.

Beyond retail and repair, Open Air Bicycles organizes cycling events in and around the region, according to the website.

Participants are expected to bring their own bikes in good working condition, water, and a helmet, along with a spare tube, food, and some cash.

  1. Maybe if the reopened State Street this wouldn’t have happened. Oh wait, the business isn’t on State Street. Odds are this is occurring due to a greedy and egregious rent increase. Randy Rouse doing nothing as businesses flee downtown.
