One Suspect Arrested, One at Large in 2021 Foxen Canyon Murder

Santa Barbara County District Attorney John Savrnoch announced that charges have been filed against Fabian Apolinar-Solano (35 years old) and Hilario Moreno Solano (29 years old) for the murder of Santiago Maldonado Martinez on March 7, 2021, on Foxen Canyon Road in Santa Barbara County.

They are charged with one felony count of Murder under Penal Code Section 187(a). Additionally, it is alleged that Hilario Moreno Solano used a firearm in the murder.

Fabian Apolinar-Solano was arraigned on June 28, 2024, in Santa Maria Superior Court, Department 9, where he entered not guilty pleas.

He is currently in custody with bail set at $4 million. He is scheduled to return to court on July 8, 2024, in Santa Maria Superior Court, Department 7.

Hilario Moreno Solano, however, has an outstanding murder arrest warrant and remains at large.

The public is encouraged to contact Detective Matt Maxwell of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office with any information regarding his whereabouts.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Madison Whitmore is leading the prosecution team for this case.
