One Remaining COVID-19 Inmate Case at the Main Jail

The Sheriff’s Office is announcing the recovery of all but one of its inmates who tested positive during a recent COVID-19 outbreak at the Main Jail. With the recovery of these inmates, the Main Jail has only one remaining active COVID-19 case. These inmates tested positive between August 24 and September 7, with the majority presenting as, and remaining, asymptomatic. During that time period, the Sheriff’s Office offered testing to all inmates housed within the jail and completed over 500 tests. The remaining COVID-19 positive inmate is being medically isolated in a negative pressure cell and is regularly monitored.   

Sheriff Brown said “I want to thank our WellPath healthcare partners, Custody staff, the County’s Public Health Department and our inmates for their efforts in controlling this outbreak within the jail. Their remarkable collective efforts resulted in the rapid containment of the virus. We continue to take every reasonable precaution possible to maintain the safety of those who are in our custody and care, as well as our employees and contract staff.”
