County and Montecito Fire responding to a reported structure fire on Picacho Lane, intersection of E. Mountain in Montecito (5:15p Fri).

Large response, sounds like SB City in the mix. Streets closed in the area. Unsure if people are out of the structure.

Many years ago the house next door to mine caught on fire. Our entire street was fire trucks, that's how they respond to house fires. In Montecito, and other areas that are a high-risk fire area, you may see a wider response. Better safe than sorry!

It appears the ignition source was the ebike , if so that would be the second one from a lithium battery fire in a month.

I'd even go out on a limb and speculate that the Tesla that burned up on the freeway today with the front end totaled, with 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish wasn't paint thinner rags either.

Yeah, but speculating that paint thinner soaked rags on top of the burned up ebike is less likely since the bubbles from water are typical for a canvas used for acrylic painting.

While possible, there is no present evidence that the ebike caused the fire. Looking at the art work one could speculate that paint thinner soaked rags may have ignited, for example. Let's wait to hear from the people with actual knowledge.

Maybe all those fire houses are extra staffed due to these last rains. And they finally got some action. Regardless of the reasons, I’m happy we have so many awesome firefighters here:-)

Not extra staffed, typical mutual aid or auto aid for bordering areas for a large 4,000 sq. ft home in a difficult area to access. Luckily the hydrant was right in front of the D/W so they didn't need to use the extra engines to use hose lines.

Very impressive indeed. It must have been a really slow day at the Fire Houses for that many units to respond. Twenty five firefighters from three Fire Districts converged on this one!

3 were Battalion Chiefs, 2 were AMR, several were move ups for coverage and others never even left the station or were cancelled in route. Check the color code to see what actually ends up there at the fire.
