Narrative: On 07/28/2024, at 2115 hours, deputies from the Ojai Patrol Station responded to the 300 block of El Roblar Avenue regarding a fight. Upon their arrival, deputies interviewed an adult male victim who advised he was pepper sprayed by Isaiah Avalos in an unprovoked attack. Avalos left the area on foot and was not located at that time.
On 08/04/2024, at 1400 hours, two female juveniles were riding their electric bikes on the bike path near South Blanche Street towards Libbey Bowl. While on the bike path, Avalos stood in front of the females and sprayed them with pepper spray striking each in the arm. The females continued to ride away from Avalos while he remained on the bike path. Both females said the attack from Avalos was unprovoked. The females reported the crime the following day when they returned to school.
On 08/05/2024, at 1935 hours, a juvenile male and female were riding on the same bike on Maricopa Highway near Nordhoff High School. While riding past Avalos, Avalos pushed the male and female while on the bike causing them to fall to the ground. The male and female both sustained minor injuries from the fall. The male’s bicycle sustained damage from being pushed by Avalos. The male victim recognized Avalos and knew he was a transient who stays in the Ojai area.

Let the pro-child abuse comments commence…..
This is getting bad. People (grouchy adults) have demonized ebikes and the kids who ride them to such an extent that I worry some unhinged (or loser day drunks from Montecito) are emboldened into thinking assaulting the kids is OK.
To tag in to this nonsense about “transplants” vs “born here.”
People that were born here acting like they earned something because their parents boned inside Santa Barbara County. Like that’s some sort of accomplishment–nah, it’s an accident. Transplants worked hard to get here, y’all just got plopped out.
And, yeah, I only have roots here from 1969, but my ancestors were the ones who stole the land from the native people first. So I guess that means I should have more of a say than Goleta loc or lil’ Basic bishyboy
Eh…. not all transplants worked hard, some not a day in their lives if they’re the kids of parents who moved here. Overall fair point though. Always thought this “local” stuff was for the insecure folks with nothing else going for them and hang on that as if it’s a badge of honor. Prime example being a guy who names himself that…..
As I’m sure you know by now, I come to Edhat to engage in hyperbole and chew bubble gum. And I’m all out of bubble gum.
You get the point though, These people that claim some sort of primacy or elevated right to determine events here because they were “born here” are fucking morons.
Typically, those people are also quite nationalist. Why? Because they’ve achieved so little on their own, they need to hang their identities on something, anything, that gives them a sense of power or worth.
When’s the last time you interacted in a setting from people that just moved here from NY that were “irritated”? There is a difference if you grew up here from my experiences, not necessarily if you were born here. CA vibes, bra
I grew up here and elsewhere. My pronouns are “Californiano” and “Waterman”.
I don’t think that growing up here as a little kid means I should have any more of a say than anyone else.
Hey and by the way, the other thing that really irritates me is these “local” gatekeepers that want to outdo people about “wHEn mY FAmiLY GoT HErE”…
My family came in the fifties
Well my family came it the twenties
Well my family came in the 1870s
And then when a Chumash person might mention that their family came here thirteen thousand years ago and it would be nice if maybe they also could have a voice in what happens around here and preserving our natural resources…
You “locals” ignore them.
So excuse me “bra” while I don’t take that shit seriously.
Yup, ever since I was a kid I always kinda laughed at others who constantly bragged about and made an entire identity based on the fact that they plopped out here.
Go get you some more bubble gum, Californiano.
What sac and alex do not understand is the fact this was a very rural town back in the early seventies.
Locals remember SB and Goleta as small towns, with little population which made the area special, surfing, hiking, camping was fantastic.
Perhaps if they had grown up here they may understand.
Yeah, I was here and experienced that. What’s your point?
And no, SB was never “very rural.” Not in your lifetime at least.
LOL, bud, I was here in the early seventies. I remember the traffic light at the intersection of the 101. I grew up surfing, diving and sailing the entire area.
“What we don’t understand”. You don’t know.
Beyond that, as I said, my ancestors were stealing land from the indigenous people LITERALLY before there was such a thing as the United States of America. I don’t know when your people came to this country, but if you aren’t indigenous then I bet my people were here long before yours and in fact, my people were founders who fought for the revolutionary army.
Stop trying to act like you have ownership here.
And by the way, despite you crying about everything, the surfing, camping and hiking around here is still fantastic–I got some of that sweet Chubaso last week, wave after wave. If you weren’t locked into your complaint couch you might have got some of that.
LOL, you saying I didn’t grow up here or surf here. I’m the guy that burned you at Ed’s. I’m the guy that out paddled you at Haskells, I’m the guy that surfed Skunk Point and Perkos before you, I’m the guy that gave you waves at Hammonds, you don’t even know where I’m talking about when I mention surfing at Ford Point.
“You didn’t surf here”. LOL
It would be awesome to get this conversation back on track. This is a pretty serious issue I think. The hatred towards ebiking teens and adults assaulting children should not be acceptable.
My kids’ friends ride ebikes and have complained a few times about people yelling at them for no reason even while they’re riding legally. I’ve seen it myself out here near Target/Costco. Reading the comments after the old man hit the girl in the face was nauseating. People so full of hate towards kids around here. This will only get worse.
Growing up here is special, and gave us locals a unique way of living, enjoying a certain way of life.
Just a fact of life – sounds like some transplants don’t get it, and never will.
Don’t expect sac and alex to understand, being they are not from here, and think differently.
It was. They obviously grew up differently.
Sure, bud. You have no idea, but don’t let that stop you!
Do tell, BASIC, how did you “grow up” here? Fishing, diving, surfing Hammonds, hiking, sailing, boating, chilling at Santa Cruz island, spear fishing, bonfires on the beach, Tea Bowls, getting your ear pierced at Piccadilly Square, going to shows at the Anaconda and Busters (for the awesome local metal bands like Kronix and Creature Feature), kegs at The Rock and Mesa Lane, having buddies in both East side and West side gangs and trying to get them to chill out, bombing hills, going to Dons games on Friday nights, wandering State and sneaking bowls in alleys, IV parties, catching yellowtail on The Hornet, ice blocking, rebuilding old Cadillacs and cruising State, and much more?
Doubt it.
It still is special. Too bad for you that you don’t get to enjoy it. I and my family do, every day.
Here’s a tip for an angry poster or two on this post – switch over and read TMo’s article about locals who paid the ultimate price.
