Off-Road Motorcyclist Airlifted to Hospital After Collision

An off-road motorcyclist was airlifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after a solo collision on W. Camino Cielo Road.

At 10:02 a.m. Sunday, Santa Barbara County Firefighters along with Sheriff Search and Rescue responded to the area just west of Broadcast Peak for a report of an injured motorcyclist.

A large group of motorcyclists were offroading in the area when a 31-year-old man lost control and went 15-feet over the side of the roadway. He sustained major injuries, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

Three engines and a truck company offered ground support as Copter 3 responded to airlift the injured man. Two fire medics were hoisted down to retrieve the man and transported him to Cottage Hospital.
