No Water on the Westside?

By an edhat reader

Is anyone else without water on the Westside? This morning I woke up to no water. I heard there is a water main break near San Andres and Pedregosa, but no clue when it will be fixed. Curious if others are affected.

  1. It better be fixed in the next 24 hours, or else, with the heat wave coming, this could be a disaster for residents on the Westside. Also, the most recent weather forecast warns of possible power outages. Red Cross, can you open shelters, with back-up generators? SBCC? Showers there?

  2. How much more are you willing to pay on your water bill so that they can do this work? Or do you think that the money for these projects grows on trees? I’m not a big fan of Public Works and their cost overruns on the desal plant project but I don’t see how this is their fault.

  3. Priorities need to be set. The $80M (and growing ) cost and increasing operating expense of the desalination plant was given priority. A small portion of that money would probably increase the replacement to at list 5% a year and could save a lot more water than the equal amount given to the desalination boondoggle.
