About 805 UndocuFund

The 805 UndocuFund was launched in January 2018 in response to the Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudslides and evolved into a joint effort among immigrants serving the Central Coast organizations, according to its website.

Since its launch, the nonprofit has distributed over $8.5 million to 6,500 households.

Roughly 90,000 undocumented immigrants live in the counties of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, the nonprofit said. When the area is struck by natural or any other disasters, undocumented workers in key regional economic sectors are not eligible for federal disaster relief due to their immigration status.

805 UndocuFund aims to help this section of the community through its Emergency Assistance Fund, by offering direct financial support to undocumented and mixed-status families affected by immigration enforcement in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Ventura counties, according to its website

The nonprofit also helps those in deportation proceedings or whose family members have already been deported.

Under the current Trump administration, at least 46% of individuals who have been arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have no previous criminal record, the nonprofit said.

The nonprofit also operates the 805 Immigrant Rapid Response Network, a community-led initiative that provides support and resources to undocumented families and people facing immigration enforcement in the counties of San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
