    • Good point about disaster evacuation Resident. Over 20yrs ago i discussed this with the #2 @ the Montecito Fire Dept. I pointed out that the “Paint Fire” raced down at 90mph, a speed that is hard to evade in a vehicle on open road! I said that shelter in place is the only alternative and he agreed. I then asked how many homes had adequate fire shelters and he said almost none.
It is incumbent on all of us to understand the limits of emergency protection and take our own precautionary measures. Fire shelters are pricey though…

  1. Need a metrolink option? ie commuter trains or rail buses.

Or when the LA to Frisco rail gets built, use the fare revenue to build an Anacapa Islands freeway?

Or cut a freeway along the mtns….

Caltrans knows how to do that.

Or make the 101 into 8 lanes!

  2. I was returning from walking a dog and a puppy from near Santa Claus coming back north at 235. Even the North bound lookie loos slowed that ways traffic to a crawl. I stay near San Ysidro and the amount of accidents in that area on the freeway is CRAZY due to people going too fast/tailgating.
