The Highway 101 widening project is advancing into its next phase this week, which will see a series of traffic impacts through April 18, 2026, according to the latest construction update.

Crews will clear and grade soils, remove irrigation, install signs, and begin work on improving storm drains.

At night, crews will remove a median island on Cabrillo Boulevard.

In Santa Barbara South, an ADA-compliant ramp is being constructed at the intersection of Hermosillo Road and Coast Village Road. Due to the ongoing construction, Hermosillo Road will be closed to traffic at the intersection with Coast Village Road.

On the freeway, crews will work on safety barriers, pave new lanes, install overhead sign foundations, and install fencing.

The project will also see construction in Montecito. Crews will continue their work on installing rebar and concrete for the new lanes, install fencing and safety barriers, and improve drainage.

Traffic will be directed on S Jameson Lane as required for safety barrier, fence work, and nighttime lane work.

At the Romero, San Ysidro, and Oak Creek Bridges, crews will continue to work on safety barriers.
