A woman sustained major injuries after her vehicle rolled over on Highway 101 southbound near the Nojoqui Grade.

At 12:28 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded with California Highway Patrol, AMR ambulance, and a CalStar helicopter just outside of Buellton. They discovered a Chevy Trailblazer had rolled over with one female driver, estimated to be in her 20’s, ejected from the vehicle. She was found next to the vehicle in the southbound lanes. There were no other vehicles involved, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

An AMR ambulance was transported the patient to the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 1 where the CalStar helicopter had landed. The helicopter then transported the patient to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The cause of the accident is unknown and the California Highway Patrol is investigating.

  1. They DON’T investigate anything except fatalities and even then, there is no information with regard to cause given to the public. You have to wonder WHY there are so many Single Vehicle accidents with cars as safe as they are…. DISTRACTED DRIVING. No one gives a ” ” about placing others on the roadway in potential harm- its all about them and there TEXT…

  2. I’m going to speculate with an extremely high probability of being correct that she was not wearing her seat belt as only 1 % of people wearing them are ever ejected and not wearing them makes one 30 times more likely to be ejected. So with her disregard for the law and lack of concern for her own safety I’d say I wouldn’t be surprised if distracted driving was involved.
