A woman is planting a tree at the Courthouse. SBPD and SBSO are responding. Turns out she was actually climbing a tree.

While it is legal she didn’t apply for a tree climbing permit which requires she be certified for climbing that species of tree by the city arborist or preapproved tree climbing educational partner, pay the tree climbing permit fee of $5.27 per vertical foot plus $9.75 for each major branch (defined as 4” or greater branch diameter 6” out from the main trunk), pay the city reimbursement fees for processing said permit, pay the “equity” fee to ensure tree climbing is available equally to all California’s, hire an AMR van to be on stand by (only required for climbing heights greater than 8′) and pay the city arborists fee for the post-climb damage inspection. This is of course after it’s all approved by the tree climbing committee and all public comments have been addressed.
