Winners Announced for Live Oak Music Festival Ticket Giveaway

Update: Contest Winners Announced

The winners for the Live Oak Music Festival have been selected!

For Ticket Giveaway #1 we asked how many acres did the Live Oak Campground sit upon in Santa Barbara County? Since this is the place where the concert is being held. The answer is 40 acres. Most of you got the answer correct, so we picked a winner at random. Congratulations to edhat reader Ragtop

For Ticket Giveaway #2 we asked, which legendary singer/songwriter and Nobel Prize winner proposed to Mavis Staples in the early 1960’s to which she famously said no? The answer is Bob Dylan. We also accepted his birth name, Robert Allen Zimmerman. Again, most of you got the answer correct, although we received a few submissions that read, “the guy with the hair and the voice” or “that old dude who plays the harmonica.” All accurate, but not accurate enough. Congratulations to edhat reader sbeezylove who won these tickets!

And if you’re curious about the history between Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples, read this interview where she talks about saying no and thinking what could have been.

If you didn’t win, fret not. Tickets can still be purchased here.

Hey edhat readers! We’re back with more ticket giveaways. This time we have 4 passes to the Live Oak Music Festival that kicks off this Friday and ends on Sunday evening.

Musicians from all over the United States and across the globe will gather to do what they do best: play music. Ranging from traditional, folk, bluegrass and gospel, to blues, jazz, classical and world music, and touching most genres in between, the main stage provides cultural entertainment and education. Artists such as Mavis Staples, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, JD McPherson, the Dustbowl Revival and much more will be performing.

The Live Oak Music Festival gates open Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. and close at noon on Monday at the Live Oak Campground near Lake Cachuma. Camping is available as well as diverse food concessions. A collection of arts and crafts booths, music workshops, fireside jamming, daytime activities for children, and rowdy barn dances on Friday and Saturday nights are just a few offerings.
