Intermittent power outages have continued throughout Tuesday morning in Santa Barbara County. So Cal Edison does not have an estimated timeline for stable and consistent power to be restored.

Local fire officials remind residents to keep emergency lines open and only call 9-1-1 if you’re having an emergency.

If you’re at home, make sure your holiday lights and decorations are plugged into a surge charger and that you are not putting your cords under carpets. If at you’re at work, make sure all plugs are in surge protectors and that you are saving all your work.

Today would be a good day to take the stairs and not use the elevators. Fire Crews do a lot of elevator rescues when the power goes out and you don’t want to be stuck in one.

There is the possibility of strong winds this afternoon, so make sure that your patio furniture and any hanging outdoor plants are secure.

  1. Hate to inject politics, but there is a very serious political angle. The Republicans have blocked efforts for years to invest our Federal tax dollars in a modern Smart Grid.
There is no excuse in the modern world for a line failure 50 miles away to cause a power failure.
