Victim Identified in Fatal Traffic Collision Near Padaro Lane

The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau is releasing the name of the decedent from the vehicle accident on March 18, 2022 on Highway 101 near Padaro Lane. 

The decedent is 21-year-old Sergio Honorio Sanchez of Oxnard.

One person died early Friday morning following a traffic collision on Highway 101 southbound near the Padaro Lane offramp.

At 2:18 a.m., emergency responders were on the scene and discovered a collision with a silver Nissan sedan a dump truck carrying asphalt. The truck had veered off the road and struck two trees.

The passenger of the Nissan was killed. The 21-year-old driver of the Nissan from Oxnard reportedly sustained serious injuries and was trapped in the vehicle. They were later arrested at the hospital for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Train traffic was stopped due to asphalt and debris on the tracks. It reopened after 6:00 a.m.

The identity of the passenger who died has not been released. The incident is under investigation.

2:18 am CHP logged a call of a semi vs a silver Nissan on 101 in Summerland, with vehicles ending up near the railroad tracks. First unit on-scene reported the Nissan passenger was 11-44, driver seriously injured and trapped. The Nissan comes back registered in Oxnard. Train traffic has been stopped.

  1. Crystal and Maui, your whining about every construction sight is getting old. FACT…they are not drawn out. They are engineered quit well as to how many working days are needed for the phases. If the contractor is late for anything other than weather or change orders they pay us ( State in this case ) back.
