Vehicle Crashes on Highway 101 Near Winchester Canyon

A truck crashed over the side of Highway 101 southbound near Winchester Canyon on Tuesday morning.

At 7:53 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded with an ambulance and California Highway Patrol (CHP) approximately one mile north of Winchester Canyon Road in Goleta. 

A Chevy pickup left the roadways and traveled approximately 200 feet through thick brush, ending up in a grove of trees. The driver, a male estimated to be in his 30’s, complained of minor injuries and was transported to Cottage Hospital via ground ambulance, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

Traffic is slow in the area but has not been closed. CHP is investigating the cause of this incident.
