On 06/14/2017 at around 1 pm, Santa Barbara Police Officers located a vehicle (a silver sedan) driving in the 400 block of Garden St. It was determined the vehicle had been recently reported as stolen.  The Officers asked for additional units to respond to assist in initiating a traffic stop.  The vehicle turned onto Haley St eastbound toward Milpas St as additional personnel arrived.  A traffic stop was initiated (lights and siren) in the 900 block of east Haley St.  The vehicle failed to stop and began fleeing from the patrol vehicles at a higher rate of speed.  The stolen vehicle turned southbound onto Alisos St and continued to drive at a high rate of speed.  Several dangerous vehicle code violations including running stop signs were observed and reported by the pursuing Officers.  The on duty Watch Commander determined the safety of the public was being placed a risk and elected to terminate/canceled the pursuit.  Officer began to disengage from the pursuit by backing away from the vehicle and terminating their lights and sirens.  However, the vehicle continued to speed southbound on Alisos St.  Upon reaching Carpinteria St the vehicle collided near the intersection with another vehicle.  The suspect vehicle did not stop after the initial collision and drove east toward La Cadena St on Carpinteria St.  As it neared La Cadena St it collided with a second vehicle and a city parking sign and was disabled.

Officer responded to both collision scenes and quickly determined the driver was fleeing on foot from the second scene.  A short foot pursuit of the driver of the stolen vehicle commenced.  However, she gave up a short while later and was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.  The driver was later identified as 26 year old, Luisa Lucero Uribe of Santa Barbara.  Uribe sustained minor injuries from the collision and was treated at Cottage Hospital.  Uribe was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail for Felony evading, stolen vehicle, two counts of hit and run, a felony warrant, three misdemeanor warrants and after trying to smuggle controlled substances into the County Jail, possession of controlled substances and smuggling contraband into a custodial facility.

The passenger in the vehicle was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and was connected as well to the stolen vehicle.  He was identified as 24 year old, Jose Francisco Gonzalez.  He is a current resident of Santa Barbara and was taken into custody at the second collision scene.  He was also booked at Santa Barbara County Jail for vehicle theft/stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and a no bail probation violation.

No one other than the driver of the stolen vehicle sustained any injuries from the incident.  No additional information is available for release.
