UC Santa Barbara Urban Art Workshop completed its 10th mural for the Isla Vista Mural Project.

Students from the spring quarter’s Urban Art Workshop, a class taught by artist Andrew Morrison, celebrated with an unveiling at 6598 Trigo Road earlier this month.

During the course, students submitted designs and two were selected for further development. One was chosen by the Trigo Building’s management company, The Hive, to be painted on their property. The students did the entire work from the initial sketches to planning, executing, adjusting, and retrieving supplies.

The class is intended to promote a strong sense of teamwork and brins art out of the classroom and into the community for all to see.

Morrison is a graduate student at UCSB and studying to obtain his MFA.  He believes in filling the empty space and enjoys the act of creating outdoors.

The Urban Art Workshop was sponsored by the UCSB Community Housing Office (CHO), Isla Vista Arts, and the apartment’s management company, The Hive.
