On Friday, April 2, 2021 at approximately 2:24 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of San Milano Drive to investigate a report of a shot heard in the backyard of a residence. Responding deputies contacted a suspect matching the description provided by the 911 caller in the front yard of the residence along with a second suspect. 20-year-old Jesus Coronado and 25-year-old Carter Chavez, both from Goleta, were detained but were no longer in possession of a firearm.
Through their investigation, deputies learned that the suspects discharged a firearm into the air in the back yard of the residence on San Milano Drive. Deputies authored a search warrant for the residence, and at approximately 7:29 p.m., they served the warrant at the residence where they located a .22 caliber handgun. A records check of the handgun revealed that it had been reported as stolen from Mercer County Sheriff’s Office in Missouri.
Coronado was booked at the Main Jail for negligent discharge of a firearm (felony), conspiracy (felony), possession of stolen property (felony), and possession of metal knuckles (felony). Coronado is being held on $35,000 bail.
Chavez was booked at the Main Jail for negligent discharge of a firearm (felony), conspiracy (felony), and possession of a narcotic controlled substance (misdemeanor). He is also being held on $35,000 bail.
No doubt that the cops knew these two bangers from previous encounters…
