Three paragliders were affected by a downdraft and crashed near Rattlesnake Trail with one injury on Sunday afternoon.

At 1:08 pm Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the scene with Santa Barbara City firefighters and Search & Rescue. Crews hiked approximately a 1/2 mi up the trail and found 3 paragliders down in the area.

The crash occurred when a downdraft struck the area and sent the gliders into trees. Two males were uninjured and the third is a female in her mid-40s who sustained moderate injuries with a major leg injury, said Captain Dave Zaniboni.

Firefighters assisted her down the trail in stokes basket where she was loaded into a ground ambulance and transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
