Suspect Evades Police in San Roque Pursuit

On October 10, 2019, at approximately 9:45 P.M., Santa Barbara Area Unit 29-201, observed a gray Mazda traveling northbound on US-101 at Turnpike Road with expired registration tabs.  The officers attempted to make a enforcement stop on the vehicle and directed the driver to exit they freeway at Patterson Ave.  The driver accelerated and exited the freeway at Patterson Ave.  The patrol vehicle’s siren was activated as they were exiting Paterson Ave.   The Mazda turned right onto Patterson Ave. and traveled northbound while failing to yield to the patrol vehicle with emergency lights and siren activated.  The Mazda continued traveling northbound on Patterson Avenue at 60-65 mph.  The Mazda made a right turn onto Cathedral Oaks then traveled eastbound at 70-80 mph.  The Mazda eventually turned left from Foothill Rd. to North Ontare Rd.  The Mazda traveled northbound until it reached a dead end.  The solo male driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.  A short foot pursuit ensued but officers lost sight of him.  A search was conducted of the area but the suspect was not located.  The Mazda was impounded for further investigation.   There were no injuries to CHP personnel or damage to any property resulting from the pursuit.  This incident is under investigation, if anyone has any details please call the Santa Barbara CHP Office at (805) 967-1234.

Multiple police vehicles chased a suspect up towards the end of northern Ontare Road. Suspect stopped and was cornered at closed security-coded gate. Suspect got out of their vehicle and fled on foot, down into San Roque Creek Canyon below,
