Under contract with the City of Santa Barbara Streets Operations Division, American Asphalt South, Inc. (Contractor), will be removing pavement markings on the following streets from Tuesday, January 24 through Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. that may affect your business:
• State Street from Carrillo Street to Victoria Street and from Haley Street to Ortega Street.
• Following the removal of pavement markings, State Street will receive new slurry seal treatment from Carrillo Street to Victoria Street only.
Slurry seal will not be placed on State Street from Haley Street to Ortega Street as that section of roadway is concrete construction. The intersections along State Street will not be slurry sealed.
Businesses with portable outdoor furnishings (chairs, benches, umbrellas, rugs, planters, etc.) on State Street between Carrillo Street and Victoria Street will be required to temporarily remove them by Monday evening, January 23, 2023.
Businesses with constructed parklets will not be required to move the parklets. All temporarily removed furnishings can be re-installed after the slurry seal treatment has been placed and cured. Deliveries to businesses should be scheduled as early as possible as the slurry seal on the affected blocks will commence at approximately 8:00 a.m. and depending on the weather could take most of the day to dry and cure.
Pedestrian traffic will be maintained throughout the work zone with minimal disruption to normal circulation. Bicycle traffic will not be permitted during the work on affected blocks. Outdoor dining operations on State Street may be impacted during the work.
