Scanner Reports 11-20-17

By Roger the Scanner Guy

It’s starting to get nippy at night now, I suppose it will be getting a lot cooler soon. I have ordered my Winter PJ’s to help keep me warm at night. I think I prefer the cooler nights to the hot ones in the Summer but they can both be uncomfortable. The other evening I took a break from listening to the scanner and went to bed early, it felt wonderful. Sometimes it’s best to just stop and let the world go by. A friend of mine, Jamie Huerta, also listens to a scanner and reports what he hears, sometimes he goes a step further and responds to the scene of accidents, and incidents reporting them. He posts on a page on Facebook. There are many people across the country doing this now as citizen reporters, but we are lucky because this man is very good at the craft of reporting. I say that as a fellow Citizen Reporter SNOT as a Professional Journalist. It is best to have several choices of where to go when one is searching for a breaking news story as one is not always going to find the answers they seek in one place. Right now Jamie is a bit under the weather and resting in the hospital in Ventura but hopefully, he will be up and running again sometime next week. From one Citizen Reporter to one of the best, I wish him well.

Here are your Scanner Reports, FRYday:

  • Report of a transient attacking the cleaning woman at Blenders in the 3900 Block of State street. That was all I heard, I used to clean some places when I was younger. I cleaned a Burger King in Calumet City, IL. They used to tell us to keep the door locked because killers were always dumping bodies in the dumpsters that was back in the 70’s. I never found one but whenever I cleaned places after that even if it was here I always kept the door locked. I don’t know if that was the case here she could have been taking out the trash either way I hope the cleaning lady is OK.

  1. Roger, Glad you took a night off, we all need to drop it all sometimes. As far as abusive and slanderous comments go, those people (bullies) are to be pitied for their low self-esteem and the need to be nasty. They think it somehow elevates their status when it does the exact opposite, shows up what fools they actually are.
