Scanner Reports 1-23-19

By Roger the Scanner Guy

I heard a call the other day involving someone who took someone in and asked the person to leave after a couple days, the guest refused to leave so the person called the police. I heard the Officer say it was a Civil matter which means a Court matter. In many places, if you take someone in and they refuse to leave when asked, you have to evict them and that is a major pain in the ass. I used to take people in all the time and never knew this until I took a relative in and they refused to go. I went to the police department downtown and they told me, I was lucky the relative did not have a key. I rushed home got here before they did, threw all their crap out, locked the door, grabbed a book and sat on the porch waiting for them to show up. They did and started crying when I would not let them in my place then they called the police on me the officer ordered me to open the door and let them in my house. I said “They don’t live here.” When he told me to open my door again I said “Only if you have a warrant.” That was that, Thank the Good Dog it was easy! They were planning on taking over my apartment and getting me thrown out I think. I would have done something real bad had that happened. (We have a different way of evicting where I come from). I took in a friend after that and he tried to take over my life. That was it never again, unless you really know someone and know they won’t pull something like that on you. Don’t take them in. Anyone is capable of  doing this to you keep that in Mind. Here are your  Scanner Reports

  1. I have been ripped off a few times taking people in one gal got me for 1,850 in cash and we were not fooling around it was a straight up friendship there has only been acouple people I took in that didn’t screw me over one was Belinda. It’s a nightmare when they won’t go I used to just toss them out not many argued the point with me..There was a couple years ago when I was drinking I took in the male told me he killed someone I said “You Too?” they left shortly there after.. Now I hope if I ever need a place to stay ya all take me in…LOL.. I haven’t walked State street for about 6 months weird thing is I have lived for so long on Milpas I hardly go anywhere else. It’s been awhile. I cannot walk to far either anymore feet hurt hip too I might walk a mile but I’m sore as hell after ward I wish I had a car but cannot really afford one…. Oh well.

  2. “I took in the male told me he killed someone I said “You Too?” they left shortly there after..” Perfect, Roger. Gave me a big smile! I’ve only taken in people I’ve known for a long time, never been messed with by 2 friends. It must be a hard awful lesson to learn.

  3. A similar thing happened to me. I took in a senior neighbor when he was asked to leave his rental of many years. I gave him the master bedroom and bath. Over the next few days, instead of selling or giving away things, he moved everything but his furniture into my house and filled up my side yard with his cabinets, tools and assorted trash. It was supposed to be for a month or two until he found a place. It was a year and I finally had to physically haul his things down and put them on the porch (which I told him I was going to do if he didn’t leave by a certain date. I had the expense of changing locks. Terrible experience. I knew he felt hurt and I felt sad & guilty b/c he was old (but in good shape at the time.) I worried that I would be stuck caring for him, though, because of his age. Terrible experience.

  4. You take them in, thinking you’re helping them. They play on your sympathies; you’re made to feel responsible somehow for their happiness and well-being. They slowly suck the joy out of life. It can get really ugly.
