An unmet transit needs listening session will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, via Zoom Webinar hosted by the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG). The public is encouraged to stop by anytime during the two-hour virtual listening session to share comments or concerns about bus systems, dial-a-ride and paratransit services in Santa Barbara County, or express needs for new or expanded services in the county. Spanish language interpretation services will be available during the listening session.

Those unable to attend the December 1, 2021, listening session can take an online survey in English or Spanish until Friday, December 3, 2021. The public can also submit comments in writing to SBCAG at 260 North San Antonio Road, Suite B, Santa Barbara, CA 93110, or by email to comment@sbcag.org.

Comments provided at the listening session, on the online survey, or in writing are shared with local decision makers, transit agencies, and the California Department of Transportation to help influence options for transit services and projects. A summary of public input is presented to Santa Barbara County Transit Advisory Committee and SBCAG Board of Directors in early 2022.

  1. We’re a tourist town 12 months a year, 7 days a week, that is where most of Santa Barbara’s money comes from. . Many residents rely on MTD to get to work & back even on holidays, they also rely on MTD to visit family & loved ones. When did the MTD Holiday Bus Schedule become NO Service at all. Ever since the cut back of busses from COVID MTD has used COVID as an excuse to raise fares & dramatically reduce Service. Its a bunch of BS. Hire more drivers and start transporting the public like it’s intended too. It’s the only form of public transportation we have

  2. First step in any decision making process is unfettered brainstorming. All idea on the table with no pre-censorship. Then sort out the viable suggestions and discard the non-viable ones. But let all suggestions flow in consideration at the first level. Moving people from A to B is the first layer of consideration. Then costs, benefits, risks and feasibility can be assigned later. But the goal is people movement – what are the varieties of ways people can move from point A to point B. A sky ways is one of them, just as much as a fixed rail transit system or vouchers for Uber. Thinking inside and outside of the box is rule number one at the very first layer of decision making.
