I was downtown on State Street yesterday afternoon (around 3pm) and noticed a large group protesting on the sidewalk. Does anyone know what this was for? Below is a short video I captured.

For the first time in the us, students are protesting against our rights.
What color tee-shirts were they wearing this time?
Not sure what the protest was about.
But I offer this helpful tip to all who capture video/photos on smart phones: hold the phone horizontally since that is the natural way we see life with our eyes, on televisions, computer screens, etc.
Shooting vertically usually shows too much extraneous sky, street, unimportant details and such. Vertical is fine for portraits of one person.
Just trying to be helpful here, not critical or snarky. So, all smart phone shooters – give the horizontal phone a try.
Kids have been marching all over the country on this the anniversary of the Columbine shooting, for sensible gun regulations/controls.
The common denominator in the past mass killings has been use of psychotrophic drugs. Is a sensible gun regulation putting those people under some sort of lockdown?
What rights are being protested against? Gun law reform is not the same as advocating for abolishment of the 2nd Amendment. No one’s rights are being violated by banning the sale of certain types of guns / devices (bump stocks, etc).

Right to peaceful assembly and to redress grievances. Not a “right to protest”. Kids need to stay in school because far too many of them graduate today still needing remedial education in english and math.
Actually through out history there has been protest against someones so called rights I’m with the students on this one.
Maybe someone should investigate the driver some people think it’s their right to kill protesters run them over.
Meds ARE a ubiquitous problem with shooters and that is an area that needs more regulation; pharmaceutical companies and doctor over prescription of their drugs. This situation is epidemic now, and wait until a couple days after a large disaster such as an earthquake, when peoples’ meds are running out. Those people will become very dangerous, very fast. Most of the people on meds do not need them, and the meds themselves create the mental problems, particularly when the supply is quickly cut off. The black market will quickly pick up the slack regarding any new prohibitions of guns. There will be no shortage of firearms for the criminal or the deranged.

Where did I ever say that they didn’t have a right to protest? Everyone has that right, and I think many more people should use that right! I am just saying that this is the first time the first amendment has been used on a large scale to protest again another one of our rights. The vast majority of the protesters want 100% of guns out of civilian hands (look at the signs at the protest). In California we have banned bump stocks, so called “assault riffles” (I still haven’t had one gun grabber explain to me what this is), 10 day waiting period, restrictions on mentally ill, domestic violence abusers, felons and anyone with a restraining order. What other “common sense gun control measures” are they protesting for? And when another shooting happens after that?
When parents send their kids to school, they do expect them to be under their classroom protection and not out on the streets “protesting”. They are fare more effective composing their own thoughts in class and writing letters to the editors of their local papers.
