A panga boat and fifteen passengers were apprehended near Arroyo Quemada beach Monday morning.
Initial reports state sightings of the boat were seen off the coast near Carpinteria. The U.S. Coast Guard, State Parks officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel responded to the call and searched the coastline between Goleta and Carpinteria, reports KEYT.
The boat landed at Arroyo Quemada, north of Goleta, shortly before 9:00 a.m. Fifteen people were arrested in what’s suspected to be a drug and human smuggling bust.

Sheriff’s deputies are providing aid to the 15 passengers of panga boat that landed on Arroyo Quemada beach shortly before 9am this morning.
We are coordinating with State & Federal agencies to determine jurisdiction and will update this thread with info when it is available.

Human trafficking and drug smuggling. What’s not to like?
George Washington and the early American patriots did not like what was happening in their country either. They organized and fought back. We can’t fix other people’s countries. They can. And they should. Too easy to come here and meet up with the relatives that have been sending them US dollars which naturally make the cartels want a piece of that action. I wish people bad habits here did not support the drug cartels. But few seem interested in stopping this traffic at the end customer which is here in the US.
People who want secure borders are not judgmental or racist. Stop labeling to win your arguments. Secure borders are fundamental. They are neutral. No sob stories subvert the need for secure borders. Lawful immigration in due course is the only way. Breaking the law works for no one. Don’t even pretend it does.

Let’s defend drug smugglers !!! They “defend” their families (you claim with NO proof of it) , and how many people do they KILL with their drug smuggling ? But that does NOT matter to you.

9915 – The truth is sometimes “ugly.” I certainly don’t think I’m better than anyone else but I do believe I deserve anything America has to offer before any illegal migrant. I have little regard for illegals using panga boats or any other source of transportation to bring themselves or illegal drugs into the USA. So, what? Because these illegals are maybe being blackmailed, families at risk of being murdered and on and on. Should I overlook the drugs they bring to mess up the lives and possibly cause the death of Americans and others? I have no problem judging a person attempting to cross our borders illegally. Remember, it’s illegal. Where do you draw the line? What do you say to the immigrant that took the time to obtain proper documents to enter/remain in the US? I’m not worried about whatever “suffering” these people may have experienced wherever they are from. There’s absolutely nothing I can do about it. I’m worried about the suffering they may cause Americans once they illegally enter the US. Seems like some of you “privileged folks” have more concern for illegals than Americans.

Weird to me that anyone would sympathize with or condone these panga operators who bring death to America. Have you not heard of fentanyl? You know, the stuff that killed Michael Jackson and thousands of others? The migrants aboard are a sideshow, a way for the Cartels to make a few more bucks. It is mainly about drugs and the people doing this deserve no quarter.
Confiscate the drugs for destruction, buy some express bus tickets and send them packing. We have enough leaches in the US already.

Oof, this thread is becoming ugly and hateful, fast. It is gross how many people think they are better and more deserving of the life and location they just happened to be born into. Have y’all done any research into these panga drug runs? Quite often, these folks are blackmailed and strong armed into committing these crimes, with credible threats against their families. We are talking getting kidnapped by the cartels, and told “you do this, or we torture and kill your family.” And as far as border crossing, it is frustrating, but I find it near impossible to judge someone born into extreme poverty with no education for attempting to “illegally” secure a better life. Too many of us priveleged folks are too quick to judge without considering the suffering behind these choices.

DOULIE – funny how you and others call immigrants from the south “leaches” and such, but I’ve never seen a bunch of white citizens begging for work as day laborers or taking initiative and starting their own gardening company with just a tiny beat up truck and some tools, or out in the fields picking fruit and veg for us to eat, or just in general doing anything they can to work hard and make some money. No, I see those guys at rallies and online whining and moaning about how “immugrints took muh jobs!”
Point is, these people are hardly “leaches,” they’re hardworking and here to make money and work for it. If you’re scared of them, you should probably show some initiative and work a little harder.
When we need truck drivers and we can’t find them from the US unemployed and the US under-educated, then we offer special visa. Good blue collar jobs provide adequate income and life satisfaction for US workers.
Our US social safety net is too generous, which why too many remain unemployed leaving well-paying job openings for others to scoop up. Farm labor now pays over $20 an hour, but best of all increased mechanization has been the response to any farm labor shortages; not more open borders. Open borders, sanctuary cities, free K-12 chain migration and automatic US citizen for those born after arrival have undermined any reasonable immigration policy implementation. You do not just get the “hard worker” – you get all their kids and relatives too. That is the crazy part of today’s out of control immigration policy.

Sac, it’s a widespread psychosis. There are millions who will believe whatever instance conspiracy theory they are fed because it allows them to maintain their victim status rather than taking charge of bettering their lives and community. So much easier to watch television or scroll Facebook than get out and put hours of real work into helping real people. Sad and pathetic.
