One Acre Brush Fire West of Buellton

Firefighters knocked down a one-acre brush fire that started from a vehicle fire west of Buellton on Sunday evening.

At 7:21 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to Mail Road approximately five miles west of Buellton for a reported vegetation fire. Upon arrive crews found a vehicle fully involved in flames that extended to one-quarter to a half-acre of brush burning towards a vineyard.

The vineyard helped keep the fire in check while crews were able to stop the forward progression at one acre, said Captain Daniel Bertucelli.

The vehicle was a total loss and there were no injuries to the driver, nor any structures threatened. The official cause is under investigation.

Santa Barbara County Fire is responding to a report of a vegetation fire on Mail Rd in Lompoc. First started as a vehicle fire, now has spread to vegetation. Exact location is unknown.
