New Mobile Platform Offering Digital Gift Cards for Local Businesses

Community members concerned about the survival of their favorite small businesses amidst the coronavirus crisis can show their support and offset lost revenue, by purchasing digital gift cards on the mobile app GYDO | Get Your Drink On.

GYDO is a gifting platform designed to digitize the age-old concept of buying a friend a drink. Drinks purchased on the GYDO app function as a digital gift certificate to a specific venue. In an effort to support local businesses in this time of uncertainty, GYDO has modified its existing platform to offer custom gift cards to its participating venues. The gift cards can be redeemed once venues reopen, and in most cases, businesses receive the funds immediately. The recipient of the gift card does not need to be a GYDO app user. Individuals can select to buy a gift card for themselves or for a friend.

“With the recent ‘shelter in place’ orders, our local businesses are facing a new reality, and – let’s be honest – it sucks. We created GYDO to support our local breweries and wineries, and during this time of uncertainty, that mission is more important than ever,” said GYDO Founder Ryan Williams. “Many small businesses are not set up to sell gift cards on their websites. This is where we can help; our platform gives businesses a way to offer gift cards to their customers, and generate income during this time of closure.“

“GYDO is a simple and fun way for customers to support local businesses in their community, and it also allows them to connect with their family and friends during this time of isolation. Users can gift a drink to a friend to wish them a happy birthday, congratulations on the engagement, or send some love. Who doesn’t love a free drink?” said Williams,

Now, more than ever, local businesses need our support. By giving a drink or purchasing a gift certificate through GYDO, you will create revenue for that venue, even while they are temporarily closed. Community members who wish to be socially responsible and help their favorite neighboring bars, breweries and wineries simply need to download the GYDO app and choose a business to support by paying it forward.

GYDO is free for businesses to use and is a simple way to increase immediate income while attracting future foot traffic. The registration process takes less than 15 minutes for a new venue to join. All that is required is an active Facebook business page. Interested businesses can contact Ryan Williams at 805-284-5213 or rw@GYDO.me

GYDO | Get Your Drink On is a mobile platform, created by two expats who were constantly missing out on life’s big moments with friends and family abroad. They wanted to be able to join the celebration and buy a friend a drink, anywhere in the world. There are currently 20 venues in California and 2 in South Africa. GYDO launched in November of 2019 and is free to download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
