Mountain Power

Source: John Wiley

Another desert contrast from John Wiley’s flight, turning distant snow into electricity.

A few minutes of flying over fascinating desert scenery after seeing the solar electric plant, we passed Hoover Dam. Having taken off from SBA in the afternoon, we landed our magic carpet a few hours later in Page, AZ. Visiting friends and family along the way, we also got close to the headwaters of the mighty Colorado River where we thought about all the benefits it provides to people all the way to where it dwindles into the sand nearing the Gulf of California and Mexico’s Reserva de la Biosfera Alto Golfo de California y Delta del Río Colorado. The power of that river born of snowflakes in the far off mountains is impressive from air, land, and water!
