Kristin Smart’s Body Recently Moved, Says Investigators

By edhat staff

Detectives investigating the 1996 disappearance of Kristin Smart believe her body was recently moved from the home of the prime suspect’s father.

In a San Luis Obispo County probation report, a detective stated they are in possession of biological evidence that makes them believe Smart was buried underneath Ruben Flores’ deck at one time and there’s damning evidence that a body had been buried in that location and then recently moved, reports the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Ruben Flores, 80, is the father of prime suspect Paul Flores, 44, who has been charged with Smart’s murder and was the last seen with Smart before she disappeared. Ruben Flores has been charged as an accessory to murder for helping his son cover up the murder and dispose of Smart’s body.

The SLO Tribune uncovered court documents that were filed Monday where prosecutors stated there are dozens of women who have recounted Paul Flores’ sexual assaults and predatory behavior that “document his 25 years as a serial rapist.”

Ruben and Paul Flores have both pled not guilty.

Paul Flores has been denied bail but Ruben Flores’ bail was reduced from $250,000 to $50,000 as the judge deemed he is not a flight risk or a risk to public safety.

If convicted, Paul Flores faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Ruben Flores faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison if convicted. Both are scheduled for hearings on May 17 and June 21.
