Identity Released of Body Found in Mission Creek

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the body found in Mission Creek last week.

The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Jon Vreeland of Santa Barbara. The cause of death is pending.

On September 15, Santa Barbara Police responded to a report of a body behind a gate in the 400 block of Figueroa Street where it dead-ends into Mission Creek. 

At the time police officials stated the death did not appear to be suspicious but there has been no further information provided.

This is a developing story.

Code 1144pc: Contact Coroner for a Body Found. The best access is off the 400 Block of Figourea Street behind a gate. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) and a Police supervisor are requested. SBPD on scene.

  1. Thank your lucky stars if you never put yourself into a position to try hard drugs, or you tried them but are not wired to be an addict. It seems like a large number of people are not lucky in this way. I just remember that Carroll O’Connor commercial where he growls- Get between your kids and drugs any way you can.

  2. I apologize on behalf of Edhat for any hurtful comments that were posted here. Unfortunately people have their own issues with stories like this and it comes out in weird ways. The vast majority of Santa Barbarans send their condolences and sympathies in this sad time.
