Holiday Parade Santa Hat Contest Winner!

Update by the edhat staff

For as cold as it was on Friday night during the parade, we expected to see a lot of Santa hats! There were still a good number of Santa hats, but not enough to wow us from previous years.

Last year we counted 1,092 Santa hats, but this year we only counted 873

The closest guess was only off by 17 hats for a guess of 890. Congratulations to edhat subscriber biguglystick! You’ve just won passes to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and Sea Center!

Also, give a big cheer to this year’s grand marshals.

It’s that time of year again! The nights are a bit colder, hot cocoa is a drink of choice, and Santa hats are on full display.

This coming Friday, on the 7th of December at 6:30 p.m.,  more than 65,000 spectators will crowd around State Street from Sola to Cota to view Santa Barbara’s festivities, the 66th Annual Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade.

You know what that means! It’s time for edhat’s annual Santa Hat Counting Contest. The edhat reader who guesses the closest number of Santa hats worn during the parade by Friday, December 7th at 12:00 p.m. will receive a family pack of passes to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and Sea Center!

This year’s Grand Marshals are six K9 teams from Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue (SBCSAR). Sponsored by Lemos Feed & Pet Supply, these Grand Marshal teams will ride in the Santa Barbara Hot Rod Limo and a Search & Rescue vehicle. These amazing K9 teams include Reilly, a 4-year-old Dutch Shepard with partner Anne Marie Cullen; Rica, a 6-year-old German Shepard with partner Sheila Malavasi; MacGyver, a 5-year-old Red-Tri Australian Shepard with partner Rick Stein; and Mojo, a 10-year-old Border Collie with partner Tracee Walker.
