Highway 217 Closed After Rollover Vehicle Collision

Highway 217 in Goleta was closed after a two-vehicle rollover collision sent one person to the hospital with moderate injuries Monday evening.

At 9:19 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to Highway 217, just east of UCSB for a two-vehicle accident. Crews found two vehicles traveling eastbound towards Hollister Ave and Highway 101 had collided for unknown reasons. 

Each vehicle had one occupant, the driver, and one of the vehicles had rolled over. The driver in the rolled vehicle was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with moderate injuries. The other driver was uninjured.

Highway 217 was closed in both directions, as of 10:00 p.m. one lane remains closed until the vehicles are moved from the roadway. 

CHP is on the scene and will investigate the cause of this incident.
