Highway 101 Lane Reductions For Alisal Fire Cleanup

Source: Caltrans

A project to clean and repair damaged culverts and drainage channels, clear burned vegetation from culvert inlet areas, install rock netting and repair falling headwall and embankments along US Highway 101 near Gaviota north of Gaviota State Park to El Capitan State Beach will continue intermittently through April 2022 with short-term lane reduction in both directions of the highway.

These intermittent lane closure operations will occur northbound Monday thru Friday from 7 am until 4 pm and southbound between 8 am until 5 pm. This roadwork will be in the lanes of US 101 in both directions until April 2022.

Delays are not expected to exceed 10 minutes. Electronic message boards will be posted to inform everyone about this roadwork.  The contractor for this $5.7 million project is John Madonna Construction Company of San Luis Obispo, CA.  This project is expected to be completed in April of 2022.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
