Singer Lionel Richie performed “All Night Long” at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Tuesday.

The former Commodores singer and current American Idol judge had locals singing along to waves of his classic hits from “Dancing on the Ceiling” to “Hello.”

The 70-year-old singer energetically moved around the stage hyping up the audience, playing piano, singing high notes, and never missed a beat.

Richie confirmed he’ll be coming back as a judge for the next season of American Idol where auditions might be held in Santa Barbara.

  1. I am into hard rock. The last concert I went to was Jack White. The next one is the Stones, then Incubus and last of the year for me, Greta Van Fleet. I would never choose to go to a Lionel Richie concert but my beautiful wife asked me to take her so I spoiled her. Light dinner and wine on the Terrace at El Encanto. Watched the Sunset from the upper Bowl patio. Gorgeous evening. OK Lionel Ritchie is the consummate performer!!! He is older than I am and I only wish I had the looks and energy he showed that night. He sure had all his fans happy, dancing and singing along “All Night Long”!!! The only downer was some rednecks from out of town trying to give us grief for smoking pot in the designated smoking area. They were horrible people until an old Security Guard came over and told them to back off and leave us alone.

  2. It’s a public event and it doesn’t matter what you’re smoking. If people next to you ask you to smoke somewhere else, at least have the decency to move. Sounds like you were more offended that they were “rednecks”. Same thing as a “deplorable”?

  3. In the entire Bowl there is only one designated smoking area left. If you don’t want to smell smoke you can locate yourself anywhere in the entire Bowl you want just avoid the one designated smoking area that is right at the entrance and not near anyone’s seats. It is called “the law.” They can no longer distinguish between tobacco and Cannabis. That is because the People have spoken. Get over it. Yes the rednecks who were bothering us are clearly “deplorables” and I am sure they support Trump but I doubt they vote.
