Goleta Man Arrested for Domestic Violence

A suspect has been arrested on a warrant for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an incident that occurred in Goleta. On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Goleta to investigate a report of a missing juvenile.

Two hours after deputies took the initial report, the juvenile returned home with multiple serious injuries. Deputies returned to the residence where they spoke with the juvenile and discovered that her boyfriend had severely beaten her, brandished a weapon and threatened her. The victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries and has since been released.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Gilberto Guajardo of Goleta. Deputies wrote an arrest warrant for the suspect and attempted to locate him, but were unsuccessful. Sheriff’s Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and were able to track the suspect to Ventura County.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, detectives arrested Guajardo for domestic violence with injury (felony), terrorist threats (felony), assault with a deadly weapon (felony) and assault with a deadly weapon
with force likely to cause great bodily injury (felony). His bail is $500,000.
