Goleta Creek & Slough Construction?

Just wondering if any readers know what is going on in the Goleta slough/creek area. A couple weeks ago, some of the brush was removed near the bike paths that lead to Goleta State Beach. Then, on Wednesday ant Thursday, I saw cranes digging up some of the creek. I’m not quite sure the point and was curious to know. 

As a bonus, here are a couple pictures: one that I thought was a little funny, found on the ground where the brush once was, and a picture I took just after sunrise in the slough! Enjoy!
