Golden State Killer to be Tried in Sacramento

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced [Tuesday] that the Santa Barbara County’s Golden State Killer Murder Cases will be tried in Sacramento along with the cases from the following counties: Ventura, Tulare, Orange, Contra Costa and Sacramento.

In announcing this decision District Attorney Dudley stated:  “We know the Criminal Justice System doesn’t feel just to those who’ve waited decades for an arrest.

We also know we can never give those decades back to our victims and their loved ones. And we know that because we have always known that justice delayed is justice denied.

Therefore, we concluded that more than anything else, our still-suffering victims and their loved ones needed this injustice to end.

Step one was clearly the arrest, which was surgically orchestrated by Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert.

Step two has to be taking these cases to trial, as soon as possible, in Sacramento; because in combining all of these cases, where the defendant now resides, we now have the opportunity to have a single comprehensive speedy trial for all victims.”

This case will next be heard on Thursday, August 23rd at 1:30 pm in Dept. 61 of the Sacramento Superior Court.

A filed copy of the new Complaint is attached.
