I need help identifying this. What kind of alien is this? I found 4 of them in the dead grass in my yard. underneath a Chinese Elm tree. One picture shows what’s inside.

Hmmm…. I just looked that up and the photos I’m seeing don’t look anything like that. I find it’s really difficult to identify a fungus with a single picture. They also grow on trees, not in pots. I’d want to see the underside, the stem, and know the details of where it emerged (what was in the pot?) IMO- it’s extremely dangerous and unkind to identify an unknown as something edible.
