An 18-wheeler truck overturned from a blown-out tire at Highway 154 and 246 roundabout in Santa Ynez on Monday.

At 12:01 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the area with a ground ambulance. They discovered the semi-truck carrying a 53-foot container had overturned. The driver self-extricated from the vehicle and did not suffer any injuries.

It’s unknown what the truck was hauling, but Fire Captain Daniel Bertucelli stated it did not appear to be hazardous. The truck, however, was leaking oil that was heading towards a creek. Fire crews were able to contain the oil spill before it reached the waterway.

The intermodal container truck was en route to Santa Maria from the Port of Los Angeles.

There are no traffic restrictions in the area at this time.

  1. 18 wheeler loses ONE TIRE and it rolls over during a turn..doubt it. Not physically possible unless the truck was going way too fast which is much more likely. I predict the driver was distracted and blew the turn . Luckily no Innocents were squished.
