Dogs of the Week: Rhonda & Sylvester

Rhonda and Sylvester have been patiently waiting for a new home since October when they were rescued from a hoarding situation in a nearby town. They are the final two dogs rescued seeking a home. These two were found thin and malnourished, living in a home with a total of 24 dogs who had limited human interaction and were not allowed outside. Terrified, they arrived at the Santa Barbara Humane Society in December and have been making nothing but progress ever since. Participation in the Humane Society’s Dogs Playing for Life program has been vital for them … Each day they get to join in on playgroup with the rest of the dogs for adoption and have time to run freely and be themselves.

Being in an environment that they are familiar with (one with other dogs) has translated into them opening up and getting used to and appreciating interaction with people as well. As you can see in the video posted on their Petfinder.com profile, they have nothing but kisses for the staff and volunteers who have taken care of them during their recovery! The staff is sure they will bond with whoever adopts them in the same way if given the time and patience they have received here at the shelter. Because they share such a strong bond with each other, the Humane Society would love to find Rhonda and Sylvester a home where they can remain together. Their adoption fee is therefore, two for one. They are estimated to be anywhere between 1 1/2 – 3 years old and their breeds are unknown.
