AJ Spurs in Buellton Closed After Structure Fire

The AJ Spurs restaurant in Buellton is closed Tuesday after a kitchen fire spread causing extensive damage to the building.

At 4:12 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to 350 State Highway 246 for a report of smoke coming from the restaurant. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire inside the building that began in the kitchen and traveled through the ventilation system to the roof which showed smoke from the outside, said Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire assisted by the internal sprinkler system which caused extensive water damage inside the building. During a routine check, fire crews noticed the fire also extended into a small attic space, which was also quickly extinguished, said Eliason.

Overall the fire was completely out within 20 minutes of the firefighter’s arrival.

There are no reported injuries and the restaurant remains closed for an undetermined amount of time.
