The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department (PHD) reports 141 new COVID-19 cases from Saturday through Tuesday.
Only three new cases were reported on Tuesday but during a press conference PHD Director Van Do-Reynoso stated this is due to a low testing volume over the holiday weekend.
The grand total is now 8,499 and 216 of those are currently active. There are 44 hospitalizations including 17 in the intensive care unit (ICU).
As of Tuesday, Santa Barbara County is still in the purple “widespread” tier assigned by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The daily case rate dropped to 8.3 from 9.0 last week, however, it’s still not below the benchmark of 7 needed to move to the red tier. The county meets the benchmark for the testing positivity rate which is currently 5.5%.

Its pretty simple actually. If you look at the date on the “info-graph.” Nativist populists aren’t much for stats but if you had clicked thru to the county site you would see the remainder reported on the 5th thru 7th. City College is still open…..
