A new Thai restaurant is preparing to open in downtown Solvang, bringing authentic flavors from Thailand to the Santa Ynez Valley.

On October 15, 2025, owner Preaw Chamchoi announced through the Santa Barbara Restaurant Guy that KANOK Thai Cuisine will soon open in downtown Solvang.

According to the restaurant’s website, KANOK Thai Cuisine will be located at 435 Alisal Road.

Chamchoi said in the post that after 15 years of sharing Thai food in Santa Barbara with TAP Thai Cuisine, she is now introducing a new concept. This concept blends authentic Thai flavors with their culture.

The word ‘kanok’ translates to gold, and is inspired by the name Kanokwan, which means “the girl with the golden skin.”

“I’m still waiting for the last fire department inspection. Hopefully, we can open for the soft opening next week or so. Thank you for helping us share a taste of Thailand with the community,” Chamchoi added.

KANOK Thai Cuisine is expected to open following its final inspection.
